Mike Dalton, “6 o’clock siren to go dead on east side” re Cannon Falls, MN:
Kids on the east side may soon have to find a new way to be called home
for dinner.
A petition was presented to the Cannon Falls City Council Thursday night by resident Allan Theim, requesting that the city relocate the emergency fire siren located near the high school baseball field.
Theim appeared before the council last fall, and council members at that time authorized the purchase of a radio controlled activator for the siren.
The council at that time decided to wait for the 1999 budget to buy the controller, which should be activated by June 1. The siren will then no longer ring at 6 p.m. or for fire calls, but only for disaster/weather related emergencies. – downloaded from Cannon Falls website, August 23, 2003
