According to a resident of Ohio, “One of my best friends is one in a family of four that moved to Bryan in 1994 to become one of the first black families to settle here. She was the first black student that anyone could remember to graduate from Bryan High School. The KKK burned a cross on their lawn in 1996. Apparently that actually made the community more sympathetic to their presence.”
