Comments

Testimony of a West Virginian:
“The rural town of Marlinton got its first black resident in the 1960s. The power company sent a newly-graduated black electrical engineer and his family to work at their regional office there. I heard that within a week someone had burned a cross on his lawn, and overnight the power company moved him out for his own protection.”
