Comments

Town was formed by former slaves of the Creek nation, who became Creeks, more or less, and received allotments under the Dawes Act. Two nearby whites said whites could not be there after dark. However, that may only be by reputation, rather than actual knowledge. We need to check the census for every decade, for starters, and visit the town to do good oral history. It may be true, partly because there is a question of Native American land ownership involved.
