A review of the Daily Oklahoman archives reveals “Negroes Chased out of Madill” to be a headline on June 7, 1904.
Arthur F. Raper’s book The Tragedy of Lynching states, “Within the last few decades, Negroes have been driven out of several communities in Grayson and adjoining counties.” This could include Marshall County, where Madill is the county seat.
