Plattsmouth, NE, passed a sundown ordinance sometime between 1938-1942 (best guess). My mother tells the story of coming home from college and discovering the recently-adopted ordinance. Incensed by it, she threatened to go confront the City Council. Her mother, a small mild-spoken woman, told her fiercely that she would do no such thing, saying
“You don’t know what it’s like here”.
