In 1853, white vigilantes attacked a destroyed a black
settlement in Placerville.

Arsonists burned Placerville’s Chinatown in January of
1886.

One person stated that “Placerville, CA isn’t still a “sundown town”, but Cameron Park/Shingle Springs (they share a zip code, 95682, and are about 10 miles west of Placerville) still were in the mid-late 1990s when I lived there.”
